So, I think we can all agree that Hollywood has gone superhero crazy in recent years, a no brainer commercially ever since, in my opinion, the late great Christopher Reeve wrapped a red cape around his broad shoulders in Richard Donners Superman. An apt film title considering the heroic nature that surrounded Reeve, a real life superman.

Marvel’s iconic superheroes have ceased fighting crime solo on the big screen – The world’s mightiest heroes, aka The Avengers, have finally assembled. At the very end of Iron Man back in 2008, you may recall the appearance of an eye-patched Samuel L. Jackson talking to Tony Stark about a little something called The Avengers Initiative. Well, well, well…since this time, four years have passed, and we’ve seen numerous superheroes grace the silver screen; all with their own stories, but all made for a very specific purpose. To make this movie.

It’s what fan-boys of the comics have been dreaming of. I’m no comic book fan and I haven’t really seen anything that special come from either marvel or DC, in terms of how these concepts translate into film, (bar one or two exceptions).
